Seafood Cold Storage Projects
Seafood cold storage projects provide controlled conditions for fish, shrimp and other seafood between receiving, processing and distribution. Whole fish in ice, packed fillets and frozen cartons require different handling and refrigeration arrangements. The project must start with the species, product condition and intended route to market, rather than treating all seafood as one storage category.
Frigovetta Refrigeration System designs, manufactures and installs seafood refrigeration facilities for processors, wholesalers and distribution businesses. Our turnkey cold storage solutions coordinate insulated rooms, cooling equipment, access doors and agreed controls with the site’s product flow.
Plan Around the Product Form
Chilled seafood may arrive in iced containers, sealed packs or other approved handling formats. The design brief should establish incoming temperatures, daily quantities and any chilling still required. Where ice is used, its condition and replenishment remain part of the operating procedure; a refrigerated room does not replace effective product handling.
Cold room refrigeration systems are selected for the defined duty. Container drainage, clean handling routes and separation between raw and cooked products need attention in the room layout. Live shellfish require species-specific holding conditions and a separate assessment from chilled or frozen seafood.
Connect Processing With Frozen Storage
Filleting, grading and packing areas create their own cooling loads and hygiene requirements. Cold room evaporators should suit the working environment, cleaning exposure and planned air distribution. Cold room panels and their junctions form the insulated enclosure, with materials and detailing selected for the conditions on site.
For products intended for frozen distribution, blast freezer refrigeration systems can be planned around batch size, product thickness and packaging. Completed batches move to frozen holding rooms designed for their storage specification and dispatch schedule.
Sliding cold room doors provide transfer openings sized for the selected containers, trolleys or pallets. To develop a proposal, share the species handled, chilled and frozen product formats, peak quantities and processing layout. These inputs establish the refrigeration scope from receiving through dispatch.
