Cold Room Condensing Unit
A cold room condensing unit provides the refrigerant compression and heat rejection needed for chilled or frozen storage. Working with a compatible evaporator, expansion device and controls, it supports refrigeration at the temperature required by the stored products.
Frigovetta Refrigeration System manufactures cold room condensing units for positive-temperature cold rooms and negative-temperature freezer rooms. Each unit is selected according to the target room temperature, cooling load and installation conditions.
Positive-Temperature Cold Rooms
Positive-temperature cold rooms operate above 0°C to store products that require refrigeration without freezing. Applications include fresh produce, dairy products, beverages and other chilled goods, with the room setpoint chosen for the specific product.
A suitable condensing unit must accommodate heat entering through the enclosure, door openings and incoming goods. Product loading, daily access and ambient conditions all influence the required cooling capacity.
Negative-Temperature Freezer Rooms
Negative-temperature freezer rooms operate below 0°C for frozen storage applications. Low-temperature condensing units must be selected for the required refrigeration duty and matched to an appropriate evaporator.
Maintaining already-frozen goods involves a different cooling load from freezing incoming products. Product entry temperature, loading quantity and the required freezing time must be assessed separately when the room is intended for freezing operations.
Capacity Selection for the Application
Room dimensions alone do not determine the correct condensing unit. Insulation, product temperature, storage volume, door usage and site conditions must also be considered.
Cooling capacity is evaluated at specified evaporating and condensing conditions for the selected refrigerant. Room air temperature differs from refrigerant evaporating temperature, so equipment selection must account for both the room setpoint and the unit’s permitted operating conditions.
Integration with the Cold Room
A condensing unit operates as part of Cold Room Refrigeration Systems, alongside the evaporator, refrigerant pipework, expansion device and controls. Installation planning should provide suitable heat rejection conditions and access for servicing.
Correctly selected Cold Room Panels and doors help limit heat entering the room. Coordinating the enclosure and refrigeration equipment supports a system design suited to everyday operation.
